Frequently Asked Questions

How does your program work?

Depending on your specific goals and needs, we’ll customize a program just for you. This may include diet recommendations, supplements, wellness support and other elements that will perfectly FIT you!

Are there any side effects expected with appetite suppressants and/or semaglutide?

Possible side effects of prescription products and ways to reduce discomfort (most side effects usually pass after the first week) include:

  • DRY MOUTH—chew sugar-free gum, mints (Ice Breakers or Eclipse) and drink fluids

  • NAUSEA—take your first appetite suppressant of the day with 8-12 ounces of fluids other than water (Coffee, tea, diet soda, etc.).

  • DIARRHEA— take Imodium

  • HEADACHES— take Excedrin, Advil, Tylenol, aspirin, etc.

  • LEG CRAMPS— take potassium tablets, calcium/magnesium combo tablets

  • CONSTIPATION—take Senokot, Colace, Fibercon (pills, not mixes), or any over the counter STOOL SOFTENER (NOT A LAXATIVE) twice daily. If using Cascara Sagrada or Miralax, take once daily in evening. If you experience severe constipation lasting longer than four days, use a Dulcolax rectal suppository. If no results in two hours, you may repeat. Call the office if no results after second dose.

If you are experiencing an urgent problem, call 911. For non-urgent concerns, please contact FIT during office hours by phone or by text: 850.385.1105.

May I drink alcohol?

Consuming alcohol while taking the appetite suppressants and/or doing any of our nutritional diet programs is strongly discouraged. Please discuss with your weight loss advisor.

What if I am a vegetarian?

We can FIT that! We have a diet program, prescriptions, supplements and a list of vegetarian protein products to fit your nutritional needs.

How do I know if your program is right for me?

There’s definitely no one-size-fits-all plan that is truly effective long-term. That’s why we encourage our clients and prospective clients to come in for an initial appointment to determine the best combination of programs for you. For example, to participate in the program that includes a prescription appetite suppressant, you must meet several factors, which are analyzed during your consultation.

How long is the first appointment and what does it include?

At this consultation, you and your medical team will determine the best program to FIT your lifestyle. This consultation will take about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes in order to meet with both a FIT medical professional to discuss the program and with one of our physicians to finalize the best program for your body and lifestyle.

Your weight program begins with a wellness assessment that includes:

  • a comprehensive blood panel

  • electrocardiogram

  • consultation, education and materials provided by our medical staff

  • consultation with our supervising physician

  • your first weekly dose of an appetite suppressant (if applicable)

  • an Essential Vitamin B12 injection

First Appointment Requirements:

  1. Fast for six hours for necessary blood testing

  2. Wear a two-piece outfit (for EKG)

  3. Do not apply any body or hand lotion before your appointment

  4. Do not wear pantyhose

What is BMI?

Your BMI (Body Mass Index) can help you find a healthy target weight range. BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight only and does not account for muscle mass, bone structure or age.

Do I HAVE to exercise?

The short answer is no. BUT incorporating exercise into your weight loss program is highly beneficial. Intentional weight loss occurs when the energy output (calories spent) is greater than the energy intake (calories consumed). If you can find just 20 minutes a day to exercise, it will help you on your journey and is critical to your overall health. Talk to the medical professional about your goals and the need for exercise to reach them successfully.

Do you have any tips on losing weight?

Yes! Your weekly appointments will include discussions on ways to increase your success and help you stay on track. We also have excellent recipes and shopping lists so you’re never alone or confused about how to continue your journey.
